If you have landed on this page it means that you are one of the millions of people who are finding difficulty in understanding how to use the Google Maps Pedometer. I can understand your problem and believe that google maps should have a proper guide for using its pedometer feature.

But don’t worry, our team at Omron Pedometer Reviews have done the hard work of researching the google maps pedometer extensively and will tell you precisely how you can use it to measure your walk, run or cycle route distance, in 3 quick steps! At the end of this guide you will see how easy it is to use the google maps pedometer.

Step 1: Get Your Location on the Map

To start off, go to the google maps pdeometer website by clicking the following link or copy and paste it in your browser’s url bar: http://www.mappedometer.com/

In order to get your cycling or running location in the map, enter your location in the box titled “Location” and click on the “Find” button.

Be as specific as possible here, type in the actual street address for maximum accuracy. E.g.- E Belmont Avenue, California.

Once you have got your location, move around the map and use the zoom up and zoom down buttons to bring your walk or cycle route neat the center of the screen.

Step 2: Enter Your Route on the Google Map Pedometer

With the cross-hair pointer, double click on the start of your route, to put a marker. Continue double-clicking along your route whenever you make a turn. Google maps will automatically track the route as you add the markers. (Undo any mistake by clicking on the “Undo Last Point” button)

If your route is not in the form of a route, just click on the “Add Reverse Route” button and the return route will also be marked. This completes the task of entering the route in the google map pedometer.

Step 3: Finding the Distance

The distance of your route will automatically come up in the box titled “Distance” and you can switch between kilometers and miles.

That’s it!!!

You are done! It is that easy to use the google maps pedometer.

Additional Tips on using the Google Maps Pedometer:

  • If you want to save or share the routes you create, you have to log in or sign up. But the downside is, your routes become public then. So, if you are concerned about your privacy, do not save your routes or even log in.
  • The disclaimer on the Google Maps Pedometer tells you to be cautious while following routes, just because a route may be plotted on the map does not guarantee that it will be safe and passable.
